Birmingham Monarchs took victory in a tight encounter at Hearsall Common on Sunday with the lead switching right until the closing stages with the Monarch men taking the league points in Division one action.
It was the home side that took the initial lead but were soon pegged back by the visiting Monarchs who lead going into the interval. Again it was the Coventry side who started strong with a maximum in heat 10 and held a narrow 1 point lead.
They maintained the lead with a run of drawn heats until they found themselves with only one rider due to an injury to Kyle Roberts in heat 16. A 6-3 in that heat gave the monarchs the advantage with 2 races remaining.
It all came down to the final heat to secure victory with Chris Timms and Nathan Groves securing a maximum to give an extended final score.
Timms secured his first maximum of the season as he continues his recovery from injury but had decent back up despite 3 of the senior team missing the meeting.
