Wadhams to return for 2016

Great Barr rider Marcus Wadhams is set to return to the sport after a year out of the saddle  to boost the Monarch’s season in what is shaping up to be a busy one.

FB_IMG_1454362881302Wadhams missed the whole 2015 season due to work commitments but is determined to make the most of his undoubted talent in 2016.

The Birmingham Monarchs are back in the Elite League this season so the news of Wadhams making a comeback is a very welcome addition along with 5 other signings for the Elite team.

New comers include Polish duo Patryk Kriger and Szymon Kowalczyk. Kriger hails from Leszno whilst Kowalczyk is from Ostrow. Szymon certainly is highly rated having made the World Final in 2015 whilst Patryk is a former Under 19 World Champion.

Both will be commuting from their native Poland for matches and it is hoped they will be eligible for all Elite and Midland League fixtures, having signed on a first contract.

Another rider returning to the sport is Sheffield’s Ryan Hoyland who also took a year out in 2015. He is another quality signing for the Monarchs.

East Park duo Jamie Ball and Jamie Whetton are also added and both rode for the Newport Elite side last year.

We face the toughest of starts to our EL campaign with a visit from reigning Champions Wednesfield to Perry Hall Park on the 3rd April whilst our Midland League starts with a visit to Coventry on the 20th March.

Work at the track and surroundings continue weekly with the away pits being upgraded whilst alterations are being made to the home pits area also with the hope of erecting covering.

With the weather improving it is hoped in the coming weeks that training can re-start and once the clocks go forward we can begin our popular Thursday night training for the kids.

Midland league fixtures have been released for the 2016 season and these can be found here: 2016 Fixtures
