Birmingham Monarchs will be represented this August bank holiday in the various British Open events.
In the Women’s event Emily Pitt will be riding in the qualifier at Sheffield on Sunday 24th August with a 3pm start. Pitt will take in the experience of racing in a big event and against some of the top female riders in the country. Emily will be hoping to make the final which will take place at Bury on the bank holiday Monday.
In the men’s senior event only 32 riders have stepped forward for the qualifiers. The two qualifiers which will take place at The Graves home of Sheffield Stars on Saturday 23rd August, see some of the countries top riders missing but both events have good quality.
Semi final one sees Chris Timms and Mark Winwood looking to finish in the top four to make it automatically into the grand final and avoid the repechage. The Monarch duo will be up against some tough opposition though in the shape of Myke Grimes, Steve Harris and also some of the next generation in the form of Richard Fellgett, Harrie Everiss and Zac Payne.
