Riders Look For Cup Run: Weekend Review

This weekend sees the KOC take place and Monarch riders are in action as well as a trio of our “experienced riders” riding.

Saturday sees the Over 50’s event at Exeter and Paul Timms, Phil Widdas and Steve Hodgkinson will be taking their place in the lineup. The lineup looks strong at Crofton Road with Dave Murphy, Mike Burgess down as favourites. Timms and Hodgkinson have been competing in the Eurovets this year and look set to do battle with some familiar faces on Saturday.

Sunday sees the first round of the KOC and even though Birmingham are eliminated from the tournament there are still some Monarch interest.

Bury take on Elite League side Ipswich at Goshen. The Comets have had a great start to the Northern League and Chris Parish has been riding well for the Lancashire side as well as Birmingham. They will be up against a strong young Elite League outfit and if they are looking for a upset the home side will need to blast out of the blocks.

Likewise Newport have had a strong start to the season with the Welsh side sitting on top of the South West League. They take on Norwich who are no pushovers though Nicky Evans side will be hoping fellow Monarch Kieron Jones will be back. East Park travel to Stockport who beat Edinburgh in the qualifying round. The Wolverhampton based side have a solid lineup including Dave Ball and they will be looking to replicate their Midland League form.

Coventry like Birmingham have a blank weekend but they are travelling to Baiter Park to take on high flying Poole. Konrad Pietek and Myke Grimes will no doubt be looking to make the side and try to lower the colours of the Elite League side.
