This weekend Paul Timms and Steve Hodgkinson will be looking to build on their impressive performances in the ORCHID Eurovets.
Both riders took part in Round one at Leicester’s Slater Street and with final appearances. It was all the more impressive for Hodgkinson as it was his first ever meeting at this event after coming back into the sport last season, but he is showing that he has not lost his gating ability.
Newcastle have just comeback as well into the sport and so it will be new surroundings for the pair. The racing gets underway on Saturday 4th May at 1pm. The next round will be at East Newport on 1st June.
On Sunday Midland League racing gets underway as Wednesfield face Leicester and Coventry take on East Park. Konrad Pietek and Myke Grimes will no doubt be in contention to get in the 1-8 for the Hearsall Common based club. Grimes and Pietek have both had a great start to the season with Grimes top scoring in the home challenge with Edinburgh and both scoring 18 against Birmingham a couple of weeks ago. Also on Sunday at Edinburgh’s Redbraes Raceway it is the Northern KOC. Facing the home side will be a host of other Northern sides including Chris Parrish’s Bury Comets. The Comets have had a strong start to the season in the Northern League losing just one of their four fixtures so far and sitting pretty at the top.
