This weekend sees Monarch riders taking to the shale up and down the country and also away from these shores. Saturday sees the start of the ORCHID Eurovets series where Birmingham will have Paul Timms and Stephen Hodgkinson flying the flag for the Perry Park side. We will be at Leicester’s Slater Street on Saturday to catch up on how the duo do.
Sunday sees Birmingham face Coventry in a challenge fixture. The meeting, which is being held at Hearsall Common, gives the Monarchs an opportunity to have a meaningful fixture and to keep the riders focussed. Coventry were due to face Stoke but due to the demise of the Staffordshire side the fixture was setup. Birmingham will have their full midland side on show apart from the injured Millward and captain Chris Timms who will be riding in Poland for his side Leszno. Racing begins at 2pm on Sunday.
In the regional leagues Parish will be thinking of deja vu as his Bury side travel to Hull. Parish rode for Birmingham last Sunday against a Sheffield side which had Angell and Stephenson in their ranks who will be in the Hull side. The Comets have had a great start to the Northern League and will be looking to keep that record up.
Newport travel down to Exeter, another side who have sprinted from the blocks this year. Nicky Evans and Kireon Jones both looked good and brought their regional form to the Monarchs last week. The Welsh duo will be all out to replecate the form they have had in the blue of ‘Port.
